Variety Clubfoot Project

Early in the year the Association approached two of our members Andrew van Essen and Paul Wade (podiatric surgeons)

to offer support to the Feet for Walking Clubfoot Project, a treatment program they organise and run for children in Vietnam.

In collaboration with Variety and many other very generous supporters, a fundraising dinner was held on Friday 5th October at the Goodwood Community Centre. What started out as a small fundraiser ended up a sell out event with an enormous amount of support from the Vietnamese Community, Vietnam Veterans and the general business community.

On behalf of the Association I'd like to thank the following:

Mr Hieu Van Le, Lieutenant Governor of South Australia and Chairman of the South Australian Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Commission

Jan and John Beasley, Suzie Boyaci and the crew from Variety

Our MC for the evening Mr Barry Ion

Peter Howell from the Wellington Hotel

ym and Alaire Martin from Martin Design

John Ali from the Australian Vietnam Veterans Association

President Tay van Nguyen and Dr Anh-Tuan from the Vietnamese Veterans Association

Mrs Yen Tran, Musician Mr Dang-Thao and Dance Teacher Mrs Hai Ha and her performers

The Clubfoot Sponsors; Variety, Jarvis Ford, Clarks Shoes

The Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons

Thank you to the many sponsors and supporters of the project who donated auction items for the evening, bid on the items and sponsored the children.  Through this very generous support we achieved an outstanding result of $24,000 towards the project that will change the lives of children who now have a brighter future.

It was a great evening that brought together a varied group of people and communities for one purpose - to help change a child's life -

The Variety Clubfoot dinner will now be an annual event on the calendar to coincide with the Oz-Asia Festival organised through the Adelaide Festival Centre. More information will be available early 2008

So well done and congratulations to all that were involved and we hope to see you next year for a beautiful Vietnamese Night on the River Torrens

And finally Congratulations to our Podiatric Surgeons Andrew van Essen and Paul Wade for their ongoing dedication and commitment to providing treatment for the children of Vietnam.  If you would like to know more about the project please visit the website www.feetforwalking.org
